These systems are used to calculate the Net Run Rate, decide in cases of Ties and for preventing those above from being implemented.
Umpires Signals.
- Bye
- Raising one arm with open palm above the head.
- Dead Ball
- Waving of both arms across each other in front of his abodmen.
- Five Penalty Run to Batting Team
- Repeated tapping of one shoulder with the other hand.
- Five Penalty Run to Fielding Team
- Placing one hand on the opposite shoulder.
- Four
- A four scored by the ball reaching the boundary is signalled by an arm extended horizontally and waved briefly back and forth in a horizontal arc finishing with the arm across the chest.
- Leg Bye
- Raising one leg and tapping the knee with one hand.
- New Ball
- Holding the ball above the head.
- No Ball
- Holding an arm out horizontally.
- Not Out
- There is no formal signal to indicate that a batsman is not out. The umpire can either shake his head `no' or not signal at all.
- Out
- When a batsman is out, the umpire making the decision raises one hand above his head, with the index finger extended.
- Revoke Last Signal
- Touching both shoulders, each with the opposite hand.
- Short Run
- Touching the tip of one hand to the same shoulder.
- Six
- Raising both arms straight over the head.
- Wide
- Holding both arms out horizontally.
